So I’m practicing a more realistic (I guess you could say) style because an editor I collaborate with frequently, Michael Marcus, wanted me to try it out for a comic he wrote a script for. He’s thinking about having me be the artist for it IF I’m willing to try this style that’s outside of what I usually draw.
At first I was like, “NNNNNNRRRRGH I DON’T WANNA’,” but I actually found that I like drawing in it more than I thought I would. It’s not going to replace the kind of art I usually make, but I like diversifying the kinds of art I CAN make.
For this sketchbook page I referenced a lot of things, so I’ll give credit where credit is due: Tale of Sand by Jim Henson and Ramon K. Perez (which is absolutely delicious!), Thor: Man of War and Thor the comic books, vlogbrothers videos, and photos of David Michael Bennett and Bunny Bennett.
…And there’s an outline of a cat sketch because cat.
